Empowered+

A dedicated financial planning experience for the LGBTQ+ community — supported by Lakeshore Financial Group.

At Lakeshore Financial Group, we believe everyone deserves a place where they can talk openly about their goals, their families, and their future. That belief led to the creation of Empowered+, an affiliate office designed specifically to support the financial needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

Empowered+ was founded by Mark Joslyn, a member of the LGBTQ+ community who saw firsthand how few financial spaces feel truly inclusive. Mark recognized a gap — not just in financial guidance, but in culturally aware, welcoming guidance. His vision was to build a space where clients can be their authentic selves and feel understood at every step.

Today, Empowered+ brings that vision to life, combining community-centered care with the full strength, support, and resources of Lakeshore Financial Group.

Why Empowered+ Matters

Many LGBTQ+ individuals and families navigate unique financial considerations — from employer benefits and family-building to adoption, legal protections, healthcare, long-term care, and retirement planning.

Mark created Empowered+ because too often, clients had to explain their family structure or justify their goals before they could even begin a planning conversation. Empowered+ changes that.

Clients work with advisors who understand the community, its challenges, and its opportunities — because they’re part of it too.

Empowered+ and Lakeshore

Empowered+ operates as a specialized affiliate practice under the Lakeshore Financial Group umbrella. Through this partnership, clients receive:

  • Culturally aligned support from advisors who “get it”
  • The robust planning tools and expertise of Lakeshore Financial Group
  • Comprehensive guidance, from everyday questions to long-term strategy
  • The same high level of care and compliance delivered across Lakeshore

It’s a model that blends personal connection with professional strength — giving clients the best of both worlds.
